About the game

Circuit Breakers 2000 is a chase where the pursuer is darkness itself. You are a courier carrying the city's last live battery across districts drawn as giant circuit boards; behind you, the grid fails block by block. Every intersection is a puzzle — rotate junctions to route power toward hospitals and tramways for points, or straight down your own escape path for survival.

Speed and generosity constantly argue. Powering a side district slows the blackout but costs you distance; hoarding charge keeps you fast and makes the city hate you, dimming shop signs as you pass in a quietly devastating bit of feedback. Co-op hands two couriers one battery and turns the whole game into a trust exercise. The soundtrack — building from a lone synth pulse to full arrangements as districts light up — is cause-and-effect music design at its best.

Why it matters

One of the first games to make moral drift visible in the environment rather than a stat screen, and its route-or-run junction dilemma is still a clean, copied design idea.

Technical notes

The blackout wave is a cellular automaton over the district graph, so no two runs fail identically. The DiscRunner streams stems off the disc and mixes them live against the lit-district count.
