Short version: we archive knowledge and point visitors to external sources.

1. What VG90 is

VG90 is a reference, archive and discovery website about retro video game culture. We publish metadata (titles, years, platforms, genres, credits), editorial commentary and original artwork. This is documentation and criticism — the same job a film encyclopedia does for cinema.

2. What we do not host

  • No ROMs, ISOs, disc images or executable game files.
  • No cracks, keygens, patches for circumventing copy protection.
  • No files mirrored from third-party archives onto VG90 servers.

Download buttons on VG90 are outbound links or redirects to the external source recorded for a game entry. The linked source hosts and controls the file.

3. Download links

VG90 may link to downloads, project pages or archive downloads hosted by external sources. Entries can include sources such as:

  • public domain;
  • released as freeware by its rights holder;
  • open source;
  • an official store, re-release or archive approved by the rights holder;
  • third-party archive sources documented on the entry.

Each game entry carries a source/status field. When a download is available, the button sends visitors to the external source rather than serving files from VG90.

4. Original demo content

Some early VG90 demo entries are original fictional works: invented titles, invented studios and original artwork created to demonstrate the archive. Historical catalogue entries may reference real games, platforms, publishers and developers.

5. Rights holders: corrections & removal

If you are a rights holder (or their representative) and believe any metadata, image or text on VG90 infringes your rights or is inaccurate, contact us via the contact page with:

  • the URL(s) concerned;
  • identification of the work and your right to act on its behalf;
  • what you would like us to do (correct, attribute, or remove).

We review every request and act quickly — typically within 7 days. Content under dispute can be unpublished while we review.

6. Trademarks

All trademarks referenced anywhere on VG90 remain the property of their respective owners. Use on VG90 is nominative and descriptive only.

7. Privacy

VG90 does not run third-party trackers or advertising. Server logs and an anonymous view counter are used solely to operate the site. Contact form submissions are stored privately and never shared.
