About the game

L'Abbaye des Morts is a 2D exploration platformer made by Locomalito, released on September 10, 2010. The game was originally written in a proprietary engine, but its code was rewritten and open sourced by MoonWatcher, spawning ports to many platforms such as GNU/Linux, FreeBSD, Wii, ZX Spectrum, C64, PSP, XBox, Nintendo 3DS and Pokitto.

The game features two sets of graphics to choose from – an oldschool, low color one, and a new, high-color refined set.

The plot is set in 13th century. The player takes a role of Jean Raymond – one of clerics who preached about the poverty of Christ and a life without material aspirations, and who were for this reason treated as heretics by the Catholic Church.
