About the game

Infinite Tux is a 2D platformer game based on the source code of Infinite Mario. It's a side scrolling platformer like SuperTux, taking more inspiration from its NES inspiration, with the added gimmick of procedurally generated levels every playthrough.

While the source code of the original Infinite Mario was released as libre, the assets could not due to being copyrighted by Nintendo. As such, all of the original Nintendo assets have been replaced with libre assets.

The game was originally written and released by Markus Persson(Notch) of Mojang as Infinite Mario Bros using Nintendo assets. Notch released the source code as public domain with a note stating that someone should replace the assets with libre assets.
