About the game

Pocket Puzzler DX bundles five original puzzle games — falling triominoes, pipe rotation, mirror-match, number rivers and the notorious gravity-flip Bricklace — and then does the clever thing: links them. Clearing well in any game banks "sparks" that buy continues or board-clears in the others, so a session becomes a portfolio decision. Which game are you good enough at to farm? Which do you love enough to waste sparks on?

Each game alone is tight; Bricklace alone would have carried a cartridge. The DX rank system tracks per-game grades to S-class with famous strictness — an S in all five (the "Grand Spark") took the community years and remains a respected flex. Perfect pick-up-put-down design made it the PocketByte's eternal second cartridge: whatever you bought, you also bought this.

Why it matters

The shared-currency compendium structure was quietly ahead of its time, and its difficulty-as-prestige ranking predates modern achievement culture by a decade.

Technical notes

All five games share one engine and sprite bank — the whole compendium fits in 256 KB. The gravity-flip in Bricklace reuses the screen-flip register, saving the CPU for its infamous chain detection.
